Abstract

Zero CDW; A Platform for Construction & Demolition Waste Management

Through extensive research and strategic development, we identified an opportunity to optimize construction waste management processes across the industry. The purpose of Zero CDW is to promote sustainability and reduce the environmental impact of construction activities by minimizing construction demolition waste.

Our key innovation is a holistic platform that integrates waste management consulting, a reuse ideation hub, a marketplace for reusable materials, educational resources, and, in the future, a clean building certification program. By empowering contractors, developers, designers, and other stakeholders to adopt circular and eco-friendly practices, Zero CDW encourages a shift toward more sustainable construction while supporting responsible urban development.

Successfully implementing our solution would significantly reduce construction and demolition waste sent to landfills, lower carbon emissions, and contribute to environmental conservation. In addition, stakeholders would benefit from cost savings through material reuse and tax incentives associated with clean building certification. The platform also promotes knowledge sharing and cross-sector collaboration while supporting the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs), particularly Responsible Consumption and Production.

Ultimately, Zero CDW aims to create a cleaner, greener future, and revolutionize construction waste management by minimizing waste, maximizing resource efficiency, and accelerating the transition toward a circular construction industry.
